Within the five song EP, the band includes three tracks redone in order to fit the acoustic vibe, while additionally including two new songs. Provided that the three songs are completely reconstructed, compared to how acoustic renditions have previously destroyed original tracks, Sleeping With Sirens manages to pull through with various beautifully composed, yet reconstructed songs. The first song on the EP – “James Dean & Audrey Hepburn” reflects such a statement. Easily the band’s most popular song to date, you wouldn’t immediately recognize the song, compared to how massively it’s been reconstructed to fit the acoustics. Tearing away the heaviness and relying on the soothing, yet powerful vocals of Kellin Quinn, “James Dean & Audrey Hepburn” may be different, but it’s certainly not worse.

Austin Mahone chatted with Fuse to discuss how he feels about inevitable Justin Bieber comparisons, how he was eating IHOP when he found out some incredible news, and his brand new choreography. The sixteen year old was all smiles as he was well-dressed in his plaid red, white, and blue button down which was accompanied by a matching Detroit Pistons hat.

When questioned over such a comparison, Mahone was quick to reply, “I can’t do anything without being compared to him. I’ll put on a shirt or a hat and they’ll be like, ‘Oh, he’s copying him. Come on guys, I’m just wearing clothes.” Though he finds the Bieber comparisons moderately annoying, Mahone did include that he wouldn’t mind being compared to “Drake, Neyo, and Justin [Timberlake]“, but he says he doesn’t “want to be compared to anyone”.
Focusing back on the music, Mahone included that he’s still working on his full length and several collaborations will occur. He’s aiming for a “chill, pop R&B” album and he’s been working with a choreography to perfect his routines. Towards the end of the interview, Mahone even showed off some of his new moves!

Conformity: Behavior in accordance with socially accepted conventions or standards. Conformity is simple, especially in the music industry. It’s easy to set out to sound like someone else. It’s easy to select several influences and mold your sound into sounding exactly how your inspirations sound. What isn’t easy and what most musicians struggle with today is standing out. What makes them different than the rest? What exactly is special about their music? For the most part with a variety of artists today – nothing aids them in standing out. There’s nothing eclectic to their sound and all that remains is conformity. Destined to break this recent pattern in the music industry is Asbury Park, NJ based band - Brick + Mortar.
With a sound like no other, they’re the catalysts in bringing a new name to the New Jersey music scene. Yes, there actually is more to New Jersey than fist pumping and fake tans. Hard to believe, I know. However, within the landscape of Asbury Park, NJ resides a band unlike any other. You can’t pinpoint exactly who they sound like and there’s truly no way to subject them into one genre. It’s refreshing. To know that bands are able to actually mold their own sound and make a name for themselves within it is avidly refreshing. Bands like Brick + Mortar remind all music listeners that there still is hope left in the music industry.
We recently chatted with the members of Brick + Mortar to discuss their eclectic sound, recently released album, amongst more. Read on to view the entire interview.
ALM PROMO: Thanks for taking the time out to do this! Could you please begin by introducing yourselveS?
John- I’m John and I play drums, samples, and sing.
Brandon- I am Brandon. Vocals, samples, and bass.
ALM PROMO: From listening to your album, I’ve noticed that your music is really unlike anything out there at the moment. You’ve molded together this sound that is really your own. Tell us about the journey you’ve had – from the beginning to finally finding your own voice/concrete sound?
John- Brandon and I have been friends for years. I have been playing drums for a long time and met Brandon in middle school. I played in a band through out high school, which was short lived, and then ended up telling Brandon that I wanted to start a band and for him to be the bassist in it. We played shows instrumentally for a while, then Brandon taught himself to sing and we delved into the art of sampling. Enter cliche saying, “The rest is history.”
ALM PROMO: Brick + Mortar has been credited as being one of the first “electronic drum and bass pop duos” to find success in Asbury Park, NJ. How’s it feel to bring something new to the Asbury Park music scene?
B+M: It’s a good feeling to see that people in this area are really connecting with what we are doing. Our sound involved into what it is through playing shows in this area.

Tanner Patrick is back at it again! He hadn’t released another YouTube cover since his take on Justin Bieber’s “Boyfriend” collected over half a million views, thus far. Tanner swung back into things with his stripped-down acoustic version of Maroon 5′s single, “Payphone”.
With nothing but a simple black backdrop, Tanner provides a beautifully composed and intimate performance for his fans, who have deemed themselves as “Tannatics“. Providing all the instrumentation, not only can Tanner be seen singing throughout the video, but also strumming along on his acoustic guitar and playing along on his keyboard. On top of performing everything himself, Tanner is also credited as recording, producing, and editing the entire video and song.
