Have you ever been in such a pissed off mood, in which you just want to get up and throw something or punch a wall? Well, to put it simply - if I were to describe In The Midst Of Lions' latest album, "The Heart Of A Man" in an emotion, that would be the emotion. And trust me, I'm not saying that's a bad thing at all. Facedown Records has been successfully putting out metal albums recently, and this album is absolutely another one to add to Facedown's success rate.
The very highly anticipated album was the follow-up to the band's debut album, "Out of Darkness", and this surely blew that out of the water. There's something different about In The Midst Of Lions - compared to common death metal bands of today. They continue with their common sound of the slow-chugging, then rapid tech metal driven beats - but it's also the fact that vocalist Matt Janssen has to vocal power and range to hit the high-pitched screams, but also the very powerful low-pitch growls. There are only a handful of 'screamers' who can really, and I mean really hit those notes, and Matt Janssen should be proud of the fact that he's one of the few who has mastered the art.
The band has a good hold on what a decent breakdown should sound like, and in general to summarize - this album is brutal. Brutal in the best usage of the word possible. Sure, the band has some work to do - but it is only their second release. The lack of originality at points is slightly disappointing, but nevertheless - In The Midst Of Lions provides a well produced, typically 'fun' album to listen to (if you're into metal) - and it's brutal, as stated previously. It's safe to say that In The Midst Of Lions are evolving, and in all honestly I personally can't wait to see what they have in store for their next release.

Check out our exclusive interview with Shane Told, vocalist of band 'Silverstein', before their New York City show, as apart of the 'Scream It Like You Mean It' Tour. Sorry for the shakiness at times!
It's been 10 years of Silverstein, and man - have they celebrated this! Not only have they released their CD/DVD titled "Decade" - celebrating the ten years, but they've also been touring all across America this summer, on the 'Scream It Like You Mean It Tour', alongside others such as We Came As Romans, Dance Gavin Dance, etc. What's it been like being apart of Silverstein for 10 years? How's the 'Scream It Like You Mean It' Tour been? Shane chimed in and said that if he could describe it in 3 words, those words would be "Drunk Young Bands"!
We've had our fair share of good interviews with nice people - but I have to say, Shane is possibly the sweetest, most genuine guy out there. Prior to the interview, we even introduced him to pizza & hot sauce - be sure to try that if you haven't! Even after the interview, Shane took a good 10-15 minutes, to speak with us and even gave us some very, good advice I took to heart. I can honestly say it did mean a lot when Shane said it was a very good interview, and I can only wish Silverstein the best! Hopefully we will hear more of Silverstein for many, many more years to come!
