Burbank, CA – The Spill Canvas are gearing up to hit the road this spring for a five-week tour that begins April 21st in Cedar Falls, IA. The band will perform new songs, including those from their latest digital release Abnormalities, which came out January 12th on Reprise Records. Abnormalities features three brand-new tracks from the South Dakota rock quartet who are known for their dynamic live shows: “Gateway Drug,” “Don’t Let Your Enemies Become Friends,” and “Good Graces, Bad Influence.” "We decided to, once again, push ourselves beyond our comfort zone as musicians and songcrafters,” says vocalist/guitarist Nick Thomas. “Honesty and simplicity remained the mantra on which we based the entire new musical direction."
The band, founded by Thomas in the small Sioux Falls community where he grew up, has been praised for their live shows by University Wire which gushed, “The Spill Canvas put on a lively show which satisfied old fans and most certainly gained new ones. We caught up with 'Mod Sun' (aka 'MOVEMENT ON DREAMS') before his sold-out show at Blender Theatre in NYC, opening up for Scary Kids Scaring Kids on their farewell tour.
MOD SUN released his first cd (a full-length) titled, "I'll Buy Myself", on January 31st 2009. It featured 11 songs, all of which were original beats made by MOD SUN himself. The songs were written and recorded over a 8 month span from May to December 2008. Every song was recorded in his bedroom and produced by him and only him. He did it all by himself...hence the name of the record. MOD SUN recently released his second free mixtape "How To Make A MOD SUN". It includes 17 new original songs and remixes.
