You may not know the name "The Alumni" - but creative genius team made up of Anthony Meyer and Christopher Aaron have produced some of the hottest hits, by your favorite artists. The two songwriters/producers have worked with acts ranging from the one and only SNOOP DOGG to Disney's very own, MITCHEL MUSSO. We had the opportunity to catch up with the two, and speak about topics ranging from just what it is like to be apart of the 'behind the scenes' part of the music industry, as well as stories from the recording studio! Read below to get to know "THE ALUMNI" better! 1. Please start off by introducing yourself (name, age, what you do, etc.)
"Anthony Meyer and Christopher Aaron. We are a Songwriter/Record Producer duo collectively known as “The Alumni.”
2. How did you two become involved in the music industry? Who are some of your inspirations?
(Anthony): "I had a lot of music around me growing up. My mom was a Music Director, so we always had instruments laying around for me to pick up and tinker with. It was hard to put them down and it became addictive. I started playing Piano and drums at around 7 years old. I remember when I was 15 begging for this elaborate Synthesizer that I saw in a music store that my mom and dad got me for my birthday. It had drum kits and a very primitive recording feature which allowed you to create songs and tracks. I didn’t come out of my room for 6 months after that. I knew immediately that THIS is what I wanted to do. I am always inspired by great artists, but ultimately I’m MOST inspired by the great minds/talents that create the stuff they sing. The Quincy Jones, ’Timbalands, and Neptunes out there."
(Chris): "I was always a big fan of music. My parents always made music a part of our everyday life. Although I played and sang in churches from a very young age, I didn’t really take an interest in music seriously until I was 12yrs old when I had my first recording session. I loved the process and knew this was what I wanted to do with my life. I took an immediate liking to singers like Boyz II Men and producer/songwriters like Babyface. They both embodied all of what I thought it was to be great in the music industry. Boyz II Men were great singers and performers as was Babyface, but Babyface also produced and wrote for many of his peers. I wanted to write and produce records like Babyface. So I guess Babyface and Boyz II Men are the reason that I’m in the music business."
3. A lot of people are interested in the artists, but have never taken the time to take a look at what goes into making the music. What is the 'behind-the-scenes' portion of the music industry like?
"It gets CRAZY sometimes. To be successful, you gotta’ “stick n’ move” a lot. This side of the industry is very fast-paced requiring you to be almost like an assembly-line for songs. We have to stay connected with the labels and A&Rs to find out which artists are working on records and what they’re looking for. Then we dive in and start banging out hot tracks congruent to that artist and their record. Then…comes the WRITING (lyrics and melody). Sometimes we write everything ourselves. Sometimes we bring in a writer to co-write with us…and sometimes we give the tracks to writers and see what THEY come up with on their own. The writing part of the process is VERY important. A hot track is nothing if there’s garbage written over it. Now that I’m thinking about… we ARE looking for some more great writers to add to the camp! Anyway… back to the assembly line… Once the song is written, then it has to be “demoed” and recorded usually by a singer that sounds comparable to the artist the record is for so when the artist hears it, they say “Yes! This is MY record!”. Then hopefully they pick the song and we’re in the studio recording the song all over again with the actual artist."

February 25, 2010 – New York - Multi-talented newcomer Ashlyne Huff will be joining one of 2009’s breakout bands, Honor Society on the road this spring for their “Here Comes Trouble” U.S. tour along with teen pop sensation Just Kait (2N2 Productions). The 33 city tour kicks of March 19th in St. Petersburg, FL and will include stops in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Orlando and Houston (see all dates below).
An engaging new voice on the contemporary music scene, Huff has the vocal prowess and gift for songwriting and dance you usually only find in veteran artists. On her first major tour, Huff says, “I could not be more excited to be on this big US tour with Honor Society and Just Kait. The music will be great all around. The best part will be meeting all the fans in each city and getting to thank them personally for being a part of this journey with me.”
Huff is the first artist signed to the Anderson Companies new innovative music marketing and recording company, Liquid Digital Media. Her debut album is set for release on June 22nd and was produced by busbee who has worked with the likes of Timbaland and Katy Perry and the Backstreet Boys. He also served as co-writer on Huff’s first single “Heart of Gold,” an infectious blend of pop and rock.
After graduating from Belmont University in Nashville, Huff began working on the album and co-wrote every song on the upcoming release. Huff’s passion for music seems only natural given her family background. Her father, Dann Huff, is a highly sought after producer and session guitarist producing albums for Keith Urban and Bon Jovi and performing on hits by Michael Jackson, Madonna and Faith Hill.
Huff has previously performed with various artists including Katharine McPhee (Verve Music Group), Emily Osment (Wind-Up Records) of Disney’s The Hannah Montana Show, KSM (Buena Vista Records), and Bomshel (Curb Records).
