Universal Republic's new artist, 19-year-old Chase Coy will be performing at SXSW on Wednesday, March 17th @ 8:00 PM at St. David's Bethell Hall. Chase will be previewing songs from Picturesque, his major label debut which is set for release June 1st. His acoustic-guitar driven, emotionally resonant songs announce the presence of a major talent. The melodic gems on Picturesque — which Coy began writing and recording in the basement of his Greenwood, IN, home at the age of 16, — display Coy’s gift for classic coming-of-age storytelling that is already connecting with listeners. Before signing with Universal Republic, Coy released one full-length CD (Look How Far We’ve Come) and three EP’s (Dear Juliet, and Goodbyes and Autumn Skies, and December) and garnered more than 18 million MySpace plays. In 2008, Coy was named one of the best new singer/songwriters by iTunes.
Recently Coy’s song “If the Moon Fell Down Tonight” was included on an iTunes Essentials Rising Stars compilation. A new version of the track — a duet with Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Colbie Caillat — will also be featured on Picturesque, which was produced by Coy and mixed by Michael Brauer (The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Coldplay, John Mayer).
After losing a bet to their friend -Chester See - Varsity Fanclub members Jayk Purdy and T.C. Carter were forced to eat one Habanero Pepper each. While uping the stakes - Jayk Purdy even added some 'hot sauce' onto the already extremely hot Habanero Pepper. After chugging glass after glass of milk, Jayk Purdy filmed the aftermath, and were even on the verge of crying. As well, their chests were hurt. Don't worry, they're perfectly fine now! In their youtube video description - the guys recommend that you NEVER do that.
