Cage the Elephant- Matt Shultz (vocals), Brad Shultz (guitar), Daniel Tichenor (bass), Lincoln Parish (guitar) and Jared Champion (drums) - are set to embark on a new run of U.S. spring tour dates that will take the band from coast to coast, beginning in San Antonio, TX on April 30 and wrapping in Noblesville, IN on May 29. They will be performing new songs as well as playing fan favorites from their 2007 acclaimed self-titled debut album that has sold 275,000 copies to date and remains on the Billboard 200 chart for the 52nd consecutive week. Their debut single “Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked” and follow-up single “Back Against the Wall” reached #3 and #1 on Billboard’s Hot Modern Rock Tracks Chart, respectively. Current single “In One Ear” is the most added song at alternative radio this week and these three tracks combined account for Cage the Elephant’s 1.2 million track and ringtone sales to date.
Formed by brothers Matt and Brad in Bowling Green, KY, Cage the Elephant has evolved from a seed of rebellion against the blue collar norm in the Schultz brothers’ hometown to one of the Top 10 most played current artists at alternative radio in 2010. Their addictive blend of raw rock ‘n’ roll, punk flare and funk grooves, inspired by legendary icons such as Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana and The Beatles to name just a few, creates a high octane live show that is nothing like you’ve ever seen before. Chaotic and raucous, Cage the Elephant’s stage show has quickly become known for being highly interactive, with Matt Schultz’s trademark crowd surfing thrown in for good measure. With honest songwriting that illustrates stories and observations of societal flaws and their intersection with human nature, Cage the Elephant retains a frenetic, youthful energy, infusing a fresh and distinctive presence in rock music today.
