BEFORE YOU EXIT Knows “What Makes You Beautiful”
I have to admit that a guilty pleasure of mine has always been boy bands. After all, I did grow up in the 90s era, when if you weren’t screaming your head off over *NSYNC or Backstreet Boys, then you were considered completely out of ‘it’. When One Direction came out with their current single, “What Makes You Beautiful”, I couldn’t deny myself of listening to it, due to my forever lasting guilty pleasure of boy bands. Boy bands are catchy, what can I say? I have no shame! You would think that you’d be singing your heart out and dancing along to One Direction’s single, but BEFORE YOU EXIT’S cover is just as catchy, if not catchier. The teenage guys, who are definitely easy on their eyes, released their very own cover of “What Makes You Beautiful” today to bring in the New Year! If you don’t have this on replay after your first listen, then I would personally be very shocked. Over the past twenty four hours, the video has received over 2,000 likes and many positives comments from old and new fans! This is a cover you’re going to want to check out yourself, and you can do so by watching the video above!

Patent Pending Gives LI Another Show To Remember
For those who claim that there is no hope left in the music industry, I would like to introduce them to Patent Pending. To summarize the history of a remarkable band, Patent Pending has been around the Long Island music scene since 2001 and their fan base has only burgeoned since then. They’ve dealt with line-up changes, the music industry changing as a whole, amongst other difficulties life on the road presents, but most of all Patent Pending has changed lives along the way; easily reminding us all of the importance of music and how we have to vigilant in protecting the beauty of music. Last night, Patent Pending headlined Club Loaded’s annual Christmosh and were accompanied on stage by Dress2Impress, This Side of The Story, Giants At Large, This Good Robot, and Punchline at Ollie’s Point.
Right from the moment Patent Pending hit the stage, everyone could feel the atmosphere in the venue change: everyone knew this was going to be a show they’d remember for the rest of their lives. The entire night there was this reciprocity exchange between Patent Pending and the crowd: whatever the crowd gave Patent Pending energy wise, Patent Pending gave right back. In the midst of this energetic crowd was an array of faces – some who have seen Patent Pending more than ten times, and some seeing the band for the first time in their life. People of all ages, who have been listening to the band for different amounts of time, all came together to produce an energetic and memorable show – all for this band that has changed all of their lives. Hundreds of people came together as one, sweating like there’s no tomorrow and singing along to their favorite lyrics, all because of Patent Pending. The band’s set list consisted of a good amount of old tracks (“Cheer Up Emo Kid”, “The June Spirit”, “Decemberween”, etc.), as thank you for those who have been their the entire journey. Of course, fans appreciated newer tracks (“Douchebag, “Therefore I Party”, “Second Family”), just as much as the older ones. Whether fans have been there since day one or just discovered Patent Pending for the first time last night, Patent Pending gave every single person in that room an insane night to remember. Crowd-surfers piled by the minute, moshing ensued like no other, slow dancing even occurred, but most importantly fans sang their hearts out right to their favorite band. If the majority of that crowd didn’t wake up with at least 1) bruises on various places 2) no voice whatsoever 3) all of the above, I’d honestly be surprised.
This was one of those shows – where you replay various moments in your head, even weeks after the show completes; when you can’t listen to the recorded versions of songs anymore, because being there and hearing it live was just that much better; where you finally found a place you belong and know you belong there. The community and family that has been created is all thanks to Patent Pending; a band who has never strayed from the real meaning of music, who has always remained true to themselves and the music they create. One of the highlights of the night was when Joe (lead singer) introduced the band’s song, “One Less Heart To Break”, which aims at suicide prevention. Joe explained that no matter what you’re going through – whether it’s suicidal tendencies, self-harm, or just a really bad day – you’re going to get through it. He explained that by entering that room last night, that “you’re submitting yourself to be a part of this second family, and that everyone is there to support each other.”, by which reinforcing the family notion and reminding everyone in that room that they will make it through and they have people right there supporting them.
With bands constantly losing members and breaking up these days, it is always refreshing to be reminded of the sanctity of music through bands like Patent Pending. Christmosh was an unforgettable experience, and Patent Pending played one of the best sets my eyes have ever seen. Despite Christmosh not taking place at its normal venue, the Crazy Donkey this year, another Christmosh completed and more memorable moments were formed.
What a perfect and memorable way to complete the holiday season.
